Cinema 4D uses a series of design tasks including creating, modifying, and animating 3D models but is only able to utilize a single CPU core which makes a high frequency CPU an ideal choice for these tasks.
However, the rendering capabilities built into Cinema 4D – along with other CPU based rendering engines likes Arnold, Mental Ray and V-Ray are very efficient at utilizing a high number of cores.
In fact, most of these engines scale almost perfectly… which makes a CPU with twice the number of cores nearly twice as fast (assuming similar clock speeds). Dual processors have lower clock speeds and aren’t ideal for workstations where modeling is a core part of the workflow so Dual Xeon’s are out.
The answer is to use the AMD Threadripper 3990X 2.9GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) 64 Core which is a fantastic choice for workstations that are focused on rendering performance. The good single-threaded speed means these CPU’s also do well with modeling and animation, All three of the 3rd-gen Threadrippers are great, but the 3990X has the most so the ebest great for Cinema 4D!

Ideal Processors for 3D Modeling and Animation
3D modeling and animation is a common task in any visual effects production. Bringing complicated 3D assets to life onscreen is a tedious process. From a compute perspective, 3D modeling and animation are lightly threaded tasks and benefit from CPUs with higher frequencies which can help with better viewport frame rates and scene interaction.
